Hey folks does anyone still use musket caps ?
I use them on my Hawken replica and am running low but dont see them listed for sale on any of my current sites. Where might I find some ?
Thanks
Troy

Troy,

Like yourself, I use Musketcaps on my Hawken. My supply is still quite well stocked, thus I haven't had a need to attempt to locate any in quite a while. I would suspect that your local shop could order you some (and let them deal with the hasmat fees) or perhaps check with some of the major sporting goods site like Cabella's and such. Wish I could be of more help, but that's a start....

Good thought i'd hate to wait till my next hazmat order I still have about 50 but it made me a little nervous when I did'nt see them any where. I'll check with BPS and see what happens.
Thanks Troy

Thought this would be an easy answer but...
nothing at The Possibles Shop, Track of the Wolf, Fall Creek Sutlery, S&S, or Log Cabin.

The Gun Works Emporium, Graf, and Black Dawg still sells them, but only in 1000 ct quantities.

2nd try:I did find them at Dixie! Also Gun Source

Seems to be some discussion going on re; 6-wing versus 4-wing.

Been getting my musket caps and powder at the mountain man rendezvous each year.

http://www.thegunworks.com/ is a great store and only an hour drive from here in Oregon.

I have tried both the 6 wing, 4 wing and no wing musket caps. They all seem to work about the same for me (Navy Arms Hawken Hunter 58 cal with Lyman 577611 minnie ball, 120 gr 3FFF), but I prefer to use the 4 wing caps. Got one elk with the setup back in 2006. Didn't draw the tag this year. It's not a sure thing.

Made a leather capper from a scrap of belt that holds 8 caps. The 4 wing caps fit best in the holes of my capper.

The Lyman Great Plains 50 cal caplock uses #11 caps, but recently got a musket cap nipple. Hope to install it and head out in the woods to see how things work.
