Musketoon

Anybody have any information about this. It is a Euroarms .58 Musketoon.
I think a 1-48 twist. I think made by Parker Hale, not sure. I got it for 250.
Replaced the nipple with one for no. 11 caps. I have shot it some with 50 grs
Goex FFF and a .570 ball and a .015 patch. Got the sights adjusted for dead
on at 50 yds. Seems to be very well made. Like it a lot.

The Euroarms muskets are Italian made & imported by Euroarms of America. I have that same model musketoon, the lockplate is marked London Armoury on mine, but has the Euroarms markings on the barrel. I haven't used roundballs in mine, just Minies with 45gns of 3Fg. I replaced the rear sight on mine with one from a Martini .310 Cadet rifle.....still looks 'period' but has great elevation & windage adjustments.

I have one and it is the best little big game ML I have. I put a slip on recoil pad on mine and shoot minies pushed by 90grs powder. It likes the heavy skirted 577611 Lyman 530gr minie ball. So far I have not worked up a patched ball load for it. To work up a load I put a sand bag on my shoulder to adsorb the recoil as the gun is much lighter than my Zouave and Buffalo Hunter. I got it for hunting in heavy woods rather than plinking and target shooting. I kept the musket nipple because cold fingers can handle a musket cap better. It's a nice gun for in and around vehicles since it is stubby. You do not lose much velocity from the short barrel. Referring to a Lyman BP manual that shows barrel length ballistics proves that a longer barrel is not that much of an advantage other than for sighting.
