Note to Moderators, if it gets out of hand, close this thread.

That said, please, let's discuss this like humans and a wild pack of attack dogs.

What I want to say, is not a shot at Muslims (in general) but at the few bad seeds that seem to seriously ruin the reputation of the group as a whole. Also, extremist gun owners seem to be the poster child of gun grabbers..

<rage filled rant on>

So I'm in a Thai Restaurant for lunch with my gf. We are eating, and two sharply dressed middle eastern men walk in. First, they were rude, while others were ordering, they started shouting for service. Point deduction already.

When their order came, they complained that "the other guy got more rice than they did". As if to imply, they were being discriminated against. Point two.

Then one of them, flips a spoon full of food onto the table, calls the manager over, and says "This has pork in it! Take it away!" This is TAIWAN, where 90% of all meat is either pork or chicken. It would seem to me, if you are vegetarian, muslim, lactose intolorant, etc.. it's YOUR duty to tell the management what you can and can't eat. Not to have the management act as mind readers. The management apologized, said the new worker didn't understand that Muslims don't eat pork, and will be careful next time. He scoffed. Point three.

I looked over at the scene they were making, and the guy tried to stare me down, and while I don't know arabic, I know when someone is cussing at me in their native tongue. he puffed out his chest, indicating as if he were the Alpha "Al Gore" male, and was pretty much challenging me to a fight if I wanted one.

Then, of course, as with any good lunch conversation.. Came the topic of Israel. And one of them commented, "If I had a gun, I'd shoot them all dead." Comments about shooting all the pregnant women etc.. and laughter following; that made me get up and walk out. That is on top of their refusal to talk to the females in the restaurant, when the waitresses asked what they can do, they reply "We don't talk to uncovered women, nor do we receive service from them".

As a libertarian, I never dictate who should and shouldn't own guns, as I think everybody has a right to self-defense..

BUT.. that said, I feel conflicted because I REALLY wanted to just walk over and bash these two. His comments to me and everybody around who was looking at the scene they were making, were something threatening.. I can't tell the words, but it would have been in pig latin and the body language and the tone was obvious.

I have great friends who are Muslim. I get along with them just fine. I (obviously) have gun owning friends. I get along with them just fine as well. (Well, maybe not the 1911 crowd :p ) But these two, it seemed to me, managed to insult:

Muslims
Men
Gun Owners
Women
Israeli's
Pigs
Thai Food

All at the same time, in seemingly one breath.
(Equal opportunity offenders I guess).

My solution was to just walk out, I did the right thing (I think), but that doesn't mean they didn't piss me off.

I really REALLY wanted to bash their heads in. I wanted to say, "It's people like you, that makes people like me assume all middle easterners are terrorists and homicide bombers." But I didn't. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest..

:cuss: :fire: :barf:

Anyone who talks about shooting pregnant women is not an embarrassment to gun owners -- he's an embarrassment to the human race.

Well, I guess you know how I'll discuss it!:D

Why not just note that these two individuals are an embarassment to themselves. If I or some "aryan" mis-behave, would you call it a "stain on the reputation of white folks"?

I think Oleg's nailed it... There are good and bad in every religion, every political party, every social group of any description whatsoever. This has nothing to do with Islam, but everything to do with behaving in a moderately civilized fashion.

That said, in order to avoid possible flame wars and insults to others' religion, I'm closing this thread down. Sorry about that, but we know from experience that there are always those who will attack the religion rather than the person, and we don't want that here.
