I did a lot of research on these and learned that the brakes can wear out rather quickly, but it was much worse on SBR AR's (however, this protects the blast baffle, but that is inconel, so I doubt it wears much). I have the Blackouts on three rifles, there is NO flash, even in the dark (maybe a quick flash if you are standing in the front, but I'm not that brave). Amazing. The Brakeout works pretty well too, I got it by mistake, my wife went to pick up a flash hider and they gave her that. I figured I'd try it, and I like it. It kills more flash than a regular flash hider AND reduces the recoil some. They have good customer service too, they sent me the wrong part (what is it with all the wrong parts!?) and told me to keep it while they sent the right one. Worked out well, didn't have to buy it later (I had planned on it). AAC makes good stuff, pricey but good. I use these on 6.5Grendel, 7.62, 5.56, and soon, .300BLK.
Only problem is that they ship by UPS only and it takes them ten days. Then they drop the package on the ground by the gate in the rainy woods --I'm lucky I even saw it. Thanks UPS.
