I'm shooting very accurately at 350 to 400 yards with my CZ 527, 223. However, the displacemt of the rifle after every shot causes me to take 30 seconds to locate the target and require the center mass.

Would a Muzzle Break solve this problem? Something like the picture I attached.

Thanks All.

A brake will help, but the rifle will still jump . If it takes 30 seconds to reacquire your target, you must be using a lot of magnification. Try less magnification and it should speed things up. Practice will help also. You should be able to find your target in a few seconds. Getting settled and set to fire is another story. Some days are easier than others for me. I’m

You can pick up one off of ebay for less than thirty bucks that will be just as effective. That's an inexpensive way to see if one does what you want. Make sure your hearing protection is up to snuff because it will need to be.

This is a shooter technique issue and a support strategy issue, not a raw recoil issue or magnification issue. A brake may help reduce how far the rifle is shifting, but if you’re spending 30 seconds to reacquire, something is broken in your technique. You should be able to start standing with the rifle at port arms, assume position, acquire target, and deliver shots within 11 seconds or less, let alone recover in recoil and re-engage the same target. I plan 5 seconds or less for re-engagement of the same target even when positional shooting from relatively poor support obstacles, and ideally try to fit under 5 second splits even for dialing secondary targets from the same position. 30second splits with a 223rem indicates poor position and poor recoil management.

Sure, get a brake, get an APA Lil’ Bastard, and be happy. But work on your NPOA, positional stability, and recoil management FAR more.
