Ok I gather that it is some kind of tradition that you use your thousandth post to start a thread and pass some kind of words of wisdom to THR, I don't have any.

But I do want to throw out two suggestions;

First, one of the most frustrating things I find here is when somebody starts a thread on a given topic and before the thread is 10 posts long there are 6 replies telling the OP how stupid his thread is. If the thread is inappropriate to the forum that's one thing and even that should be handled by reporting the post as opposed to posting in the thread.

My second suggestion ( & all time worst pet peeve) is that if you want to reply to a post, read that post a couple of times first. Make sure you understand what's being said. Nothing is more frustrating than reading a thread where the OP says " I'm looking for an SD/HD weapon , please don't suggest a autoloader because I only have one hand " and the very first reply is " I recomend a GLOCK ."

So that's my rant but I really think that if we all made an effort in those two areas it would be a major improvement.

I think this was a great 1000th post.... words of wisdom with regard to common sense.. without getting nasty about it.

May you have another 1000 posts before something else becomes a pet peeve of yours :)

Happy 1000! good suggestion and I'd like to add one of my own:

If you want to reply to a post, read that post a couple of times first. Make sure you understand what's being said. ;)

why read the whole thing even once if you know what you want to say after reading the first three words? :cool: Our time is precious. :neener:

If a guy with one hand was serious about shooting he would get steel-reinforced caps on his front teeth to work the slide. ;)

Congrats on your 1000th and the wise suggestions therein!
