Hey everybody, finally figured out how to post pics so I thought I would share. I shot this buck during the first deer season in November here in Illinois. I was heading back to my truck when I jumped a doe with this buck right behind her. I took off running after them when I came around some brush and there he was just standing there looking for the doe. I shot him at a range of 25 feet.

11 points with a 22 inch inside spread and 165mm at the base. He only weighed 168lbs due to the rut but I don't really care about weight. The taxidermist said he would be done in June. Anyway I hope this works.

WOW :what:

Really nice buck. Congrats! Glad to see you had some luck this year. Reckon what he'd score? ;)

A guy I hunt with and the taxidermist both said he would be in the 150 range. When I get him back, I'll try to get him scored.

Isn't strange how many hunters (myself included) become so stealthly when hunting. Then, when you start into "non-hunting mode" suddenly a deer appears. You can be proud of that buck...yes sir.

Really nice buck! Congratulations.

I always say that you should hunt to and from where ever your stand or spot is. I have seen a lot of deer in the past while walking out. It's usually dark when I walk to the stand. You need to be alert with the gun in a semi-ready position (i.e. not on your shoulder if it is a rifle).

I killed one in Illinois last week, 10 point. I don't have a pic, but it was nice, it had the weird looking browtines, and a broken G2.Where did you hunt at out there? Nice buck by the way.

I hunt in Jackson county, a good friend of mine has about 600 acres of woods and fields. There are about 10 of us who hunt there and for last 5 years, about half of use won't shoot any small bucks. It appears to be working.

The doe with the buck got away, but the one in back of my truck I killed earlier and that is why I was leaving the woods while it was still light out. I wanted to gut her without haveing to use flashlights. All in all it was a good day.
