Get Kimber Gold Match , very impressive and cheaper then the Baer or Brown

You have my sympathies, but she lived a full life. You have to let her go. Think of all the happy times you had with her, and whatever you do, keep a stiff upper lip.

Ok Den, please explain yourself. You can't throw something like that out there without an explination!
Sorry, but I hate Kimbers too. Had two of them. Both had problems. Don't have them anymore. A good friend of mine bought one, had problems, and sold it. I love my S&W 1911, my three Springfield Armory 1911s, and my three Colt 1911s. No problems with any of them.

I see I've started a spirited debate....

Just for reference sake, how many rounds through the gun before the crack?
Well, I cracked the frame above the slide release about a year ago. My smith cut the cracked portion out and she's been running well ever since. I've had the gun for three years. For two of those I was putting 2k/month. The last year I've tapered off a bit to 1k/month. Figure around 60k over the past three years. But I'm not the first owner either so I couldn't tell ya the total round count.

BTW, you can see the finish wear on the high points on the slide and trigger guard in the photos. The light spot around the crack is from my trigger finger when it's not on the trigger. :)

I'll talk to my smith and see about stop drilling the crack. In the meantime, I'm looking at Baer and Brown. Thanks for the suggestions.

Ed
