I received my YHM suppressor a few weeks ago and quickly realized that using it on a rifle w/ 16" barrel created an extremely unbalanced, heavy gun and I started searching for the right pistol brace to create a new pistol build so I could use a shorter barrel to improve balance & reduce weight. I decided on the SB Tactical SBPDW, picked up a 10.5" barrelled upper, bought a new lower and I now have a very nice pistol build with much better balance & almost a full pound lighter. Now I definitely want to get a 8.5" .556 upper for the build as well.

I built a .300BLK SBR and chose an 8.5" barrel. I dig it.
I had mixed emotions on the 8.5" Barrel & 10.5". I eventually went with the 10.5" because of the 9" of barrel needed in most instances to fully burn the powder & trying to strike a balance between a shorter barrel and velocity. Of course, the 8.5" would have been even more balanced and easier to handle so everything is a trade off. I guess I'll just have to force myself to eventually get an 8.5" upper as well. ;)

Depends too if you're using factory ammo or loading your own. Shooting subsonic you don't necessarily want to get that additional burst of velocity out of it. I live in an area that gets quite cold in the winter so we load our subsonic ammo slower than you would in say Texas.

I went with 10.5" for the very same reason. After running potential loads through quickload I was pretty well settled. Balance of the (at the time) pistol didn't matter too much because I knew I was going to be turning it into an SBR at some point.
