Picked this rifle up for her a few days ago. She is really taking a liking to it!

I really like it also! Here is a 5 round group I shot at 100 yards doing load work

And 2- 3 shot groups I shot at 825 yards

Looks fun! Was your spotter sitting in the truck downrange? I loaded some 120gr amax over 34.5gr H4895 for my kids. I just picked the charge weight (0.5gr over Hodgdon starting) and loaded 10 up. I was able to smoke golfball sized rocks at 200 yds, so I called it good and loaded 50 more. Recoil is about nonexistent. My 8 y/o was using it to blow up tannerite yesterday evening. The look on his face = :D

Even though I'm sure you gave her a lot of instructions it seems your daughter is a natural at shooting well. She may have a future in the game...

That's great , I love it when dads take their girls shooting and hunting . We had two young girls hunting with us last week and it was cold .

Good on you man. We need more dads doing this these days! You could tell how proud she was showing her target. And heck, she's shooting .223, not a .22lr...that's really good for a 6 year old. A lot of kids wouldn't take as well to that.

She is shooting a Savage 12 LRPV in .223, with hand loads shooting 85gr Barnes Match Burners.

She really likes the "big gun"

She started out with a 22lr Here is a video of her a year ago.

I was curious about how young to start letting my kids shoot... So far we are still shooting the BB gun at age 5 but maybe soon the rifles... Your daughter did very well...

That sir is amazing shooting for your lil one, congrats to her & to you for getting her out there shooting.

I'm mostly a archer & have had each of my girls shooting bows since they were 3 years old.

She has been shooting off and on since she was 3.

Rifle
Savage 12 LRPV .223

Thank you for the kind words, I will pass them on to her.

What looks wrong?...is she shooting right handed with her left eye or I'm I looking at the video wrong?

Just totally awesome!

Any man can be a father, but it takes a REAL MAN to be a dad.
Mine's been gone for 9 years now, I miss him terribly.

Sorry for the loss Hondo. Mine one and only little girl is six and couldn't imagine life without her.

Clayne_b, nice shooter you have there. I have some questions but will start a new thread.

My daughter nearly lost her fiance because of shooting too well. Some guys just can't take being shown up by a girl. :) She shot first (using a .22 at 50 yards) and her BF wouldn't even pick up the rifle after he saw what she did.

After that I could barely get her to do any shooting at all. It's a shame really because she has real talent. She shoots half inch groups at 50 yards without practicing at all. And that's with the gear I own. I have some pretty accurate rifles but not world class by any means. If she had good rifles and ammo and she put the time in I really think she could have been shooting in the Olympics. She's that good. She too is a natural.

She's like that with any gun she picks up too including hand guns. The bad part is I think she gets it from her mom. I had my wife shooting 3" groups with a Buckmark at 25 yards the first time she shot it.
