today i logged the date that my bushmaster ar has surpased the 2000rd mark and i can say that i am proud and this is one gun that hasn't let me down. as a matter of fact it is at 2151rds to date, and there have been no malfunctions to the fault of the weapon. it is accurate, reliable, and the red dot ans iron sights are dead on i couldn't be happier. just though i would share. if anyone is wanting an ar i can tell you from much experience that you should do it!
and why not have some pics for the thread! everyone loves pics!

9 months! i know i know that's horrible, but in the last year i did move half way across the country and had alot of time in the field, when i get back from this upcomming absence it will go through about 1500-2000rds in 2 days while i attend tactical response!:D

Congrats on the accomplishment! ;) Has anything changed, loosened, or improved in those 2000 rounds? Did you notice any kind of break in?

thanks, the only thing i think that has gotten better or changed is the trigger i think it got smoother, not by much but i can tell a difference.
i am also proud to say that the safety selector lever has always been really smooth and easy to engage, which is a problem with our brand new issued rifles.

You're seriously apologizing for nine months to pass 2000 rounds in any one gun? What's wrong with you? :scrutiny: I officially envy that milestone--alasn, I cannot afford 2,000 rounds of any one calibre....except for my mosin, maybe. I haven't hit 1,000 for mos tof my stuff--but then again, I've got a lot of stuff, and I want to "even out the process" :D

What're the specs on your rifle? Looks nifty--besides, who doesn't like a chance to brag on their "baby"? :D You know you want to.

i am a pretty lucky guy i guess, i have found some good deals on ammo but the supply is drying up after 200rds that i shot today! i guess i shouldn't complain to loudly!:D

Congrats. The only way I even knew my first one hit 2000 is that I bought 1000 rounds of surplus, then I reloaded all of it when I was done shooting it the first time. After that, I lost count. It was a Colt (back when they were the only quality manufacturer) and was almost as tight after 2000 as it was when new.

As for my current one, I have absolutely no idea how many rounds I have through it...

some people say i am anal when it comes to round counts, i don't know what it is i just do it. i like to know how many and when and all that good stuff, it also helps me to if i am gonna sell the weapon not that i would this ar but i give the buyer a good solid count of rds through it. also if i have a breakage when i report it i can better inform people about the situation.

Au contraire, mon frere. 2000 rounds of .22lr will cost you around 40-50 bucks at most assuming that you can pick up 500 rounds at a time at around 10-12 bucks a box which is the price here.

I haven't had to worry about .22lr for quite awhile on account of my dad giving me 10,000 rounds a few years back, but I still keep my eyes peeled for deals. One time, I walked into a K-Mart in Fort Morgan, CO and they were selling those old round cans of remington (roughly 500/can) for 99 CENTS a can. More recently, I stumbled across some dented boxes at my local walmart for 8 bucks a box, with 500 rounds/box. At present, I think I probably have something like 5000 rounds on hand thats shooting stock, and another 5000 that is being horded.

its hard to find any faults with the bushmasters, I've got an A2 HBAR thats got over 30k rounds through it (mostly wolf), besides the upper to lower fit (its a bit wiggley, even with an accu-wedge installed), its to the point I need to install one of the JP enterprizes tensioning pins,

I've only had to replace three parts;

the buffer spring with a chrome silicon one, and the extractor spring twice, and the hammer, the cocked notch wore out and the rifle would sometimes fire when I took the safety off, and then it'd ride back with the bolt.

That's a fine looking "black rifle":D Do you think the EO is worth the cash? I'm building one with a Stag lower and 20" barrel with what appears to be the same rear sight you have. I put a less expensive red dot on my SKS and it is starting to flake out. I wouldn't mind throwing an EO on it, but that may have to wait do to $$ issues. Congrats on the milestone, now hit the range and get that puppy up to 4K :D

distra.
i do believe the eo is worth every penny, i was always issued a rifle with an aimpoint aka m68 until recently, when i finally got an acog on my m203 equiped m4. anyways the 68 is a great sight with long battery life and all that but i definetly prefer the eo. i had the chance to have anytype of red dot i wanted and i went with the eo for a few reasons.
1: the 65moa circle is great for cqb
2: the 1 moa dot is great for taking those longer shots more accuratly as opposed to the 4moa 68 dots, especially out to 300yds and beyond.
3: the 65 moa is approx the size of an average man at 100yds so it assists in range finding some what.
4: the hash maark at the 12,3,6,and 9 are cool, i have no real use for the top and bottom but the sides would come in handy for leading moving targets.
5: plus mine has the "aa" battery's and i love the fact that i can get batteries all most anywhere and they are not pricy at all.

i do suggest that if you are gonna put a red dot on a defensive weapon that it be quality though, for something just to go to the range, and plink a knock off is ok, but quality red dots will be worth the money in the long run!
