Hey all, im kind of new at taking care of firarms and so fourth.

A few months ago i bought a bersa thunder in full matte. Now the area i grip, or anywhere my hand would touch basically, has turned extremely blue, light blue in some areas. Why is this? And what can i do to prevent it?

Is there any hope of getting the gun back to black again?

Thanks.

Acidic level & salts in sweat and oils from your hands are doing the "re-blue" trick.
I guess you could pay some bucks to "re-blue" (re-black?) the entire thing again and always wear gloves when shooting, but hey, a little wear gives a good handgun some character, doncha think? Unless of course it's a "safe-queen" worth big bucks.

Stop squeezing it so hard. :p

Baba's got it. Wipe down the gun with CLP or similar product immediately after shooting. It won't put back what's already come off, but will help slow the process.

You have "normal" wear on a gun that gets "used". This is a good thing. As mentioned above a good wipe-down after EVERY range trip will stop any further progression.

An expensive alternative:

Have it refinished, then keep the grip area waxed(just like a car). But you have to rewax every time you clean it. IMO it's not worth the effort.

Thank you gentlemen. I appreciate the help, ill make sure to keep it wiped down. But it is too bad it will never be all black again unless i spend the big bucks :(

Have a good one!
