Today's my 50th birthday, and my wife got me a model 29 to help ease the pain of beginning my second half-century.
Here are some pictures. The third one is for my fellow Kentuckians.
By the way, does anyone know what load would be best for bears?
I would say to check into HARD Cast semi-wad cutters for bears --- or maybe soft points ---- I would not use hollow points myself ---- we talking Black bears ???
You have a good wife mine bought me a Black Hawk when i turned 40, this gives me an idea for my 50th. Enjoy it, hope you do alot of shooting with it.
Happy Birthday!
Thanks for the birthday wishes everybody. Now I'm going to walk down the hill behind my house and see how much damage I can do to my targets before my hand hurts. 44spec. first.
I shot some 44 spec. and some 44mag. It was smooth as silk. With some practice I think I can get pretty accurate with this gun. Recoil was not bad at all, and it was a blast to shoot. There's something about a bigger bore that puts a smile on your face!
Happy birthday and congratulations on having a great wife! (Mine got me a Lymans Great Plains flintlock for my 55th.) You're gonna love that Model 29. It is smooth and comfortable. I've used mine, with 44 specials, for action pistol competitions. It sure got noticed among all those 9mm autos.
