Has anybody gotten a copy of the November issue of GUNS magazine yet? There is a review of Enemies Foreign And Domestic by their gun rights advocate David Codrea.

David Codrea also has his own gun rights blog called War On Guns: Notes From The Resistance

I haven't seen the new review yet, so if anybody has, let me know. I'm anxious to read it. Hopefully, it will provide me the "credibility traction" to get reviews in the other glossy gun mags. To date, I have reviews in the April issues of Small Arms Revew and Concealed Carry.

Anyway, if anybody has their November GUNS, I'd love to see what it says. It's not on the news stands in San Diego yet.

I'm sure it will be good, doesn't matter to me though I'll be buying your new one as soon as it's available anyway :D

I'm about to start my 2nd reading of EFAD in anticipation of the sequel. Can we sign up for early for the first edition?

I hope the sequel, "Domestic Enemies," will be ready sometime in early 2006...

About the first quarter of it is posted on the website.

wait.. so your name isnt travis.. you're matt bracken?

I was just about to go on amazon and order your book! Ive been wanting it for about a year now, never got around to it...

if I want a signed copy, is it still by check/money order only, or can I get a signed copy via debit/credit.

What if I paypal you the money, I'll throw in an extra buck for paypals fees.

David Codrea sent me a Word copy of the review text, but he asked me not to post it for a while because it's copyrighted material. We need to keep the gun mags going too, and if the articles and so on just get copied onto the web right away, it harms their sales I suppose. Anyway, he asked me not to post it and that's enough for me.

He did say I could excerpt it though...so here's the beginning.

“A stadium massacre leads to the banning of all semi-automatic rifles,” the teaser on the jacket reads. “But who really fired the fatal shots, and why?”

The answer, we learn, involves nothing less than a modern day Reichstag fire, engineered and instigated by an evil and ambitious ATF supervisor and his squad of violent agency misfits. The political fallout of the stadium shooting is a national ban on “assault weapons.” With free rein to create more “domestic terror” incidents, and with unprincipled politicians and a complicit media, gun owners are easily demonized as a manipulated public demands more “security.”

The book is available on Amazon and some other places linked on my website (below).

I'm not taking pre-orders for Domestic Enemies yet, it's still too far in the future.

Ruger270: I'm not set up for credit cards or paypal, but some of the other sources listed on my website are. For signed and inscribed copies, I'm still taking checks, cash, money orders and so on, just not paypal or C/C.

Ruger270Man: Oh yeah, the review is very positive. Besides the attention it gets among GUNS readers, I'm hoping I can use it to leverage more reviews in the other slick gun mags. It's almost impossible for an unknown author to get noticed by the big magazines, so this will help.

I just bought EFAD a couple of weeks ago--went on a book binge when I got my new job. I'll buy the sequel, which is a better recommendation than I would give most authors. ;)

Matt,

Get your butt in gear. My Key West lollygag is coming up Jan. 21. I need the sequel or my vacation will be wasted. You wouldn't want to spoil an old man's vacation now, would ya? :p

PS: e-mail me your address again so I can send some $$ for another autographed EFAD.
Got a friend who owns a piece of a range in Louisville that I want to surprise when we meet up in KW in Jan. He sells Glocks, so he needs a little happiness in his life. :D

Quite the coincidence - I just read the review, not 5 minutes ago. I picked up the November issue of "GUNS" while in town earlier today. After reading the review, I decided "ENEMIES, FOREIGN and DOMESTIC" is going to be my next book purchase. I think the review is very positive and I'm looking forward to reading the book. :)

I bought it off of amazon over the summer, from a recommendation on this board. Wicked good book, I enjoyed it a ton. I ended up reading it in an afternoon (into late afternoon, into evening, into early morning :) ) and was throughly amazed at the book.

I cannot wait for the sequel as well!

Sure things

Well of course your book is in the magazine-you have an M-16 variant on the cover!

Next time, use a 1911 with $3000 worth of modifications, and they'll name it Book of the Year. :neener:

Congrats, BTW.

AntiBubba: SO TRUE! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!

For my next book, I'll use a custom 1911 with a hundred bells and whistles and tactical accessories, and they put the cover on every magazine at least twice!

Matt,
Excellent job on EFAD. I'll buy the sequel as well. After the clusterluck in New Orleans, I would love to see an integration of some sort of natural phenomenon into the plot of your new book.
