Thought I would share something. I was out of the usual brass cleaner / polish to add to the tumbler so I looked around the auto detail section of the garage and found Meguiars PLASTX cleaner and polish...added it to the tumbling media and holy smoke, MY BRASS LOOKS GOOD! :D

Here's a handfull of the 400ish pieces I'm working on reloading. They all look this good!

Just 2hrs I did use a primer pocket cleaner to bust up the carbon but the polish made a night and day difference.

Yes it does. Plastix has aluminum oxide as an abrasive and some other chemicals to clean. Never thought of using it for brass.

Aluminum oxide is the stuff in sandpaper. There's nothing wrong with that, IMO, as long as you use it sparingly!

jpwilly,

Just another bit of info. Go to PetsMart and get a bag of lizard litter, comes in 10 - 12 lb. bag, then go back to the auto supply and get some Turtle Wax Rubbing compound, or Nu Finish polish, fill your tumbler with litter, and put about 2 tablespoons of wax/cleaner in with the litter, will do same with brass, not as harsh on brass tho. Don't use any kind of cleaner with ammonia in it, makes brass brittle over time.

788Ham, I'll give that a try! I have a lot of dirty brass that needs cleaned up. Man was I impressed when this stuff came out my little girls asked if it was gold!
