Interesting. Is it a 3rd gen smith? I wasn't sure if they had a 22 in their 3rd gen lineup (4506, 4006,3913, etc.)

I keep one in my pack for a backup trail gun.Good little shooters.Too bad S&W no longer makes these.Very popular with SOT folks.

To answer your question, I don't know. These pistols were made in the 90s, if that helps. I believe the very first of its kind, either a 422 or a 2206 (I'm not sure which) actually started being produced in the very late 80s.
The design is based (or actually copied) from the 1908 Bayard .32 pistol. I think it is a neat design, and I love the controls, including the mag release.
I use high quality .22s in it; not Eley (although I would like to) but some kind of quality target .22. I think it deserves it.
It is a little on the large side for a pocket pistol, but I can usually make it work. It feels great to have your "sporting pistol" with you at all times (at least it does for me!)

Hello rodinal220.
What is "SOT"?
Thanks.

SOT=Special Occupational Taxpayer

There are 3 classes of SOTs, Special Occupational Taxpayer. Class 1 is an Importer of NFA weapons. Class 2 is a Manufacturer of NFA weapons. Class 3 is a Dealer of NFA weapons.
