My dad wants a light-weight snubbie!

How 'bout this ??

Smith and Wesson Model 638 "Bodyguard." I got mine used and in mint condition for $330. Of all the snubbies I've owned, this one was by far and away the best all-around. Empty I believe it weighs in at around 16 oz and not much more loaded. Gives you SA or DA action with no snag-up shrouded hammer.

After the SHOT show, the S&W 637 was widely available at a reduced price due to decreased demand for the exposed hammer lightweight (Everyone wants a hammerless!). My local dealer had 'em at $339 new. I told a friend - he drove 75 miles and bought two. I shot one at our range... a bit difficult due to it's size. I found the 125gr +P .38's a bit more harsh than the .44 Spcl 200gr GDJHP's in my 296, possibly due to the small grip size. The 158gr 'cowboy loads' were fine. It is a great CCW - but do have your dad try those grips first.
