I know the Glocks have gone through some internal parts modifications. Any need to upgrade any of the internals?

She inherited it so it's the Generation 1 with the stipple grip panels but the waffle backstrap and front strap. The spring is the loose on the guide rod not the retained spring.

It's the single pin trigger pin not the double frame pin.

Thanks...Bexar

Sounds more like she has a Gen. 2 as the first model Glock 17 didn't have the waffle checkering.

That's what I thought but the waffle backstrap grip shows as a Gen 1 on some websites showing different generations. However, splitting hairs on my part...so...leave it alone and tell her to shoot it and enjoy it.

Thanks folks...Bexar

Only factory upgrade/recall on the Glock 17 Gen.1 that I can remember was the firing pin safety system sometime in the early '90s.

I'll call Glock sometime next week and ask them if I need to send it in.

Thanks...Bexar

You can send/take your Glock to their factory in Smyrna, Georgia.

They will check it out/update it, etc. for Free.

I have taken several since I live right down the road from their plant.

If you want some night sights they will sell/install them for next to nothing.

I had a Glock that they replaced three pages of parts-for nothing.

One of their expert gunsmiths will personally speak to you and do what needs to be done.

Call them. They are very nice but to the point.:);)

I would upgrade the following if they haven't been already:

1:Firing Pin
2:Extractor(Non-LCI/90 Degree Extraction Port)
3:Firing pin safety and spring
4:Spring loaded bearing(Non-LCI/90 Degree Extraction Port)
5:Trigger bar(trigger assembly)

This is part of the 6 part upgrade(recall) that Glock implemented in the early 1990s.

As has been suggested,if you go to a GSSF Match the Glock Amourers will replace the parts for free.

The old parts have a black finish and the new parts have a silver finish.

I would also, for good measure, replace the recoil spring assembly with a current one.
