Neat. I always liked that rifle, too, but don't have the tools or skills for such a project. Nice work.

Now go hang a melon in a string bag and paint a white circle on it ...

You need to get a job on Mythbusters. Then you could play more. :D Cool toy!

good movie' saw it a couple months ago on Netflix. What exactly was the round he was using? 22 WMR? I always wanted to build a replica of that rifle ever since.

Never saw it. Like to see a side by side comparison photo. Intersting enough project -- thanks for sharing!

Outstanding! I've always thought that was one of the coolest movie guns around. It was a rare example of a film showing what might actually be a fictional assassin's custom weapon. As opposed to the absurdities of the remake or of "The American" which tried to convince us that a Mini-14 was exotic hardware. Didn't the character also rig a sling around a tree? I liked that bit.

Very amusing and well done! The original movie is a classic...superb on so many levels. The remake with Bruce Willis was terrible and really had nothing in common with the original.

In the book, it was described as a 6mm custom cartridge: centerfire, straight body brass. The gunsmith made 6 loaded rounds for the Jackal, hidden in the shoulder pad.
The whole thing was designed to be disguised as a crutch for the disbaled veteran disguise he used to gain access to his target.

The Jackal missed DeGaulle because french men like to kiss one another. At least in the book.
