sorry i couldn't find a better picture, but it's byron mcelroy's double in the movie 3:10 to yuma...couldn't even follow the movie because i was basically admiring the gun...i wish i could find some better pics...

not only my dream shotgun, but probably the prettiest gun i have ever seen...something about a wood/blued shorty hammer double...

Well within reach, depending on where you live. Probably not outlandishly expensive, either.

You're right, that is a nice looking gun.

That is a Colt 1878 reproduction shotgun. The hammers are close in for quick and fast dual hammer cocking. Looks like the one in the movie has around a 12" barrel. You will have to settle for a 20" unless you want go through the paperwork to own a short barrel shotgun and have it cut. They are nice well made shotguns.

Here is 1878 coach Link:

Here is a picture of one in one of my sales ads for cowboy action shooters with a EMF 1892 rifle and two Vaqueros.

Yeah, when I look at that I just think, "I want to shoot various inanimate things of various densities producing various 'mess' factors from quite limited distances."

Definitely worth jumping through a few legal hoops to get your dream shotgun.

Go for it!

When I get the sling mount on my Spartan, it'll be on the metal between the barrels, not on the wood. I made that mistake once, fore end wood split eventually and I repaired it with a dowel. Not so pretty anymore.

To be useful, I'd want more barrel than that, especially in the BP days. But, up close with buck it surely was effective. Smokeless burns faster and would be more efficient in the shorter barrels. I'll keep my 20" ones, though. More about function than looks to me.

well, i live in california, so i think the short barrels would be a no go...if i lived in a state like texas, i would gladly pay all the appropriate taxes for an sbs, but i doubt they would let me in california...darn shame...

well, if you live in PA, you're in luck. you can own: short barrell shotguns & rifles, suppressors, machine guns, and full auto rifles.
