My favourite gun...

Of all the guns I own, I'd have to say the most FUN is my Marlin lever action, .357 carbine. It's light. It's short. It's a dead straight shooter!

I'm gonna run out and join SASS right away! Ever seen these guys at the gun shows? They walk around decked out in full cowboy regalia. I'm not a cowboy by any stretch, but MAN this looks like FUN.

Anyone else out there an SASS member? me and my business partner have both been thinking it would be a hoot to spend a weekend in costume, competition and braggin'.

It's light. It's short. It's a dead straight shooter!

I find that these three particular qualities are often apparent in many of the most appealing firearms ever made. And the first two lend almost instant appeal to any carbine, short rifle or shotgun.

For me it's a 1952 Mannlicher-Schoenauer sporter carbine. But I almost equally enjoy handling many of the Winchester '94s, M1 carbines and a great number of English side-by-side shotguns to name three others offhand.

As your collection grows, you'll find it more difficult to select "favorites" and you end up creating categories to allow more than one "favorite gun". I'd have to say that roughly half of my collectiopn deserves the favorite title. That said, if I had to choose just one it would be my AR-10A2 carbine. IT is great fun to shoot, but more importantly can serve a variety of needs from hunting to home defense to SHTF, etc. But thankfully I live in a country that does not restrict ownership to one or two firearms.

I'm in the .22 camp as fave because I can afford to shoot them. Even reloading c.f. is more expensive and then you need the time to do the reloading.

Then again, I"m a paper puncher at heart so a .22 is all the power I need.

My problem is I only buy what could be my favorite. Once I get it I move on for another favorite. This has led to a very eclectic collection. I have a Marlin 1894s in .44 mag. It is a blast to shoot even though it is used infrequently. Can't find a good outdoor range near me with openings for new members. Enjoy collecting and remember each gun has a different personality and therefore should be considered a favorite in it own right.

Yup, I have a Winchester 94 in .357. Great fun on a summer day to set a lawn chair outside and pott at tin cans while there's a nice cold drink nearby.
Ah, that it would be warm again soon, but afraid it's not to be, since winter is not even at the halfway point.

I couldn't agree more. I, too, have a lever-action .357 and I love it. Then, there's the Garand. <ping> Need I say more? Got to love the 10/22 and its brother, the Mark II. But, let's not forsake the classic wheelgun, S&W mod 586. And, what home would be complete without the Remington "pump"? Thought that was good to go, until I met the XD-9, my favorite striker-fired pistol.

So, yes, I believe in a safe full of favorites.
