Greetings,
Well, here I am practicing my dry fire drills last night when, just for kicks, I field strip the gun. I had recently found a couple of sights that give instructions as to how to totally detail strip the 1911. I've heard it said that this is one of the few guns that needs no tools to totally break it down. So, here I am with the gun at basic field strip level, and I think to myself, screw it, let me give it a try. My wife is kind of looking at me like, do you know what you are doing? Are you going to be able to put that back together? I answer her, I don't know on both occassions. Had to pop the internet on to check how the sear and disconnector fit together, but other than that, it wasn't hard at all. Mr. J M Browning was one f***ing genius in how he put this thing together. So, now that I have actually done this, now I'm thinking of playing Mr. Gunsmith. I'm sure there are a lot of little secrets that one needs to know for this pistol. Any idea of where to find some excellent resource material on learning the finer points of really making one of these a shooter?
Thanks for your time,
Ken
