IMG_5373.JPG This is my first AR pattern rifle. I went into a retailer for a new 1911 and came out with this for some reason. Prob because they were on sale but that doesn't explain the Nikon pro staff and mount and 10 p mags I bought. Haha!

My question is do AR dudes usually remove the iron and pop up sights or can they play we'll together. The front sight seems to not show up too much on the scope when looking through. So I rather leave them on as not to lose them. What do you think?

If it doesn't bother you leave it as is.
Most people remove the front gas block/sight and put on a low profile gas block, free float hand guard......................
Looks like a nice rifle, save the photo so you can remember what it used to look like.
If this is your first AR you'll know what I mean soon enough.

Leave them.

They are not hurting anything and should there be an unexpected problem with the scope they'll be there in an emergency.

Haha! I'm trying to avoid the modification sickness that many people acquire when I get new stuff including myself. A big reason why I stayed away from ARs for so long is because I never like the cheese grater quad rails and that kind of stuff I kind a like the traditional fore grip.

I liked the pop up and front sight too that why I'd like to keep them on. I got out the door for just around a bit over 900 total so I think I did pretty well. I have not sighted in the Nikon pro staff 5 yet but it looks great so far just peeping through it. I went to shoot it before I mounted the scope to get a feel for the stock sights. They worked good. I like the peep ring in the back very quick to grab the target with the eye. I wanted to add the scope because I use my saiga for shorter range iron sight fun I wanted a longer range shooter as well. I might consider an AR scope quick detach but for now I think it's pretty bad ass :)

Maybe also a slim profile butt pad. Although I could not find one at the store. I will admit I'm just looking for a pat on the back! Haha I never grew up in gun culture so I researched this all myself with the THR as help. I like to keep my gear simple and useful.

Haven't posted on here in a while but this is by far the best gun forum around by far!

All I can say is... great choices, rifle, scope, and mount!

I also went with a one piece scope mount. It just makes more sense to me. If there is an advantage to two separate rings I don't know what it is. Weight, perhaps.

I'd leave it. Once above 3x or so you won't see it and if you have no other needs or wants, you maintain the integrity of the original gas block. Nice pkg you picked up.

Could you explain your preference for a one-piece scope mount?

Stay strong, my friend.

I bought a S&W M&P-15 Sport II for each of my two sons. They have remained exactly as they came from the factory except that one son replaced the rear sight with a carrying handle for that "classic" look.

Wow what a dad!!! I think I want to leave the gas block and original handguard on they are just basic and functional. The first time I shot it I was hearing and smelling some sizzling plastic but I'm sure it's fine.

Congrats
Welcome to the wonderful world of Legos I mean ARs

As said you have lots of options.
If that front sight reflects an image in your scope you can get a riser, change the gas block, or figure out other options such as buy another AR! Or better yet build one.

Now before you laugh, I'm building one after buying two. It's actually fun and very educational.

My suggestion is to look at videos, read all you can. Clean your new AR, get some ammo, and go shoot it. Learn all you can, learn how it works, what you like, don't like etc, then figure out what changes to make.

Other than that, enjoy and have fun.
You have a nice AR and you'll love it. So again congrats and know you won't go wrong with whatever you do as you'll be changing things many times.

I shoots targets the most and long shots so I like the scopes 18 to 24 powder I like the one peace scope mounts you can take your scope off and put it back on and still be close

Keep the open sights on there, and always have the tools to remove the scope. If you are ever in an encounter of the hostile kind, and your scope fails, you can switch to open sights. Make sure the open sights are zeroed for your go to ammo.
