I think the G17 would be a great choice, I have the 34 and love it. My first pistol was th Ruger SR9c, which is a tremendous value, and has a little better trigger than the glocks IMHO. It is also heavier, and has external safety.. Good luck on your purchase!

I agree that you should try a couple different brands before you buy. The first I shot was a S&W M&P, and boy am I glad I did not buy an m&p, though I wanted to. I just think their triggers feel horrible compared to most other autoloaders.. I also think they are uglier than Glocks Oops did I say that..? Anyways, to each is own.

I have to disagree Glock is like Honda of handguns. The 1911 is like Chevy of handguns.

I'd disagre, no 1911 has ever needed a Gov. bailout !!!!!! lol..

If my first handgun had a .22 conversion kit I would have saved myself a lot of money.

there really is something to be said about those kits. The past six session all I did is send one mag of .45 through my 1911 and about half a pack of .22 each time.
