This past weekend was my first time at Knob Creek. I went with a friend that has gone to every shoot except 3 since 97. We had a blast. While he said the show has gone downhill, It lived up to my expectations.

Here's a quick video of me shooting an M16, AK47 Krinkov, him shooting an RPK then two of the night shoots. I got up front for the last shoot. It was amazing.

After the shoot we stayed in Louisville, Ky. Really a great town!

I'll be attending in the fall for the next shoot!

I've been meaning for years to go, but it's a long drive from northern Virginia. I have a friend in St. Louis that might be interested in going -- that's something to plan for in the future.

Aside from the shooting, how was the parts market? Any bargains?

It has turned into a convention of millionairs thanks to the federal government. A Thompson gun that should cost about a thousand bucks new now cost 25 to 30 times as much since the registery was closed in 1986.

"It's the Kentucky State Fair now" - That's really the vibe that I got. But everyones kids seems under control and I actually didn't see a lot of kids around the tables.

The gun show was mixed. Plenty of dip****s walking around in full camo with their chest rigs like any gunshow/flea market but there were plenty of good people we struck up conversation with and a few tables with good stuff. I didn't see any bargains that I couldn't pass though. I walked around with a good amount of cash and only managed to bring home a bolt carrier group for my AR and some garbage.

It was insanely over crowded. When I return next year, I'll be visiting on a Friday to avoid the crowd.

Before Sept 11th '01 there were a lot of interesting displays, the Militia of Montanna comes to mind.
SOF was also set-up.
Randy Weaver was there selling his book "Ambush at Ruby Ridge".
Pieces and parts for cash.

The early 1990's was a wide open "right winged conspiracy" and we loved it.

You never saw a child at Knob Creek until a very few years ago and now it's family friendly, bring your dog too.

It was the last bastion of hard core gunners.

It's the Kentucky State Fair now.....
