My first attempt to reload .351 WSL. This project is about four months in the making.

180 Gr Jacketed
IMR4227
First load = 17.0 grains
Second load = 18.5 grain (a compressed load)

177 Lead Cast
IMR4227
17.5 grains

Started with @150 once fired original brass (cleaned)

To my surprise, all loads functioned perfectly ! :) This is with a new Wolf recoil spring and new recoil buffer.

It looks like you did everything correctly.
From what I have read that cartridge is more powerful than the 30-30 so it's serious Deer medicine. (and riot gun lol)

Nice rifle from the little I can see. More pics?

That's pretty cool! My father-in-law has a 1907 that he's been itchin' to shoot but doesn't have any ammo. Did you get any velocity data?

Thanks, It's in rough shape as far as the shock and fore end goes. In the 50's my cousin painted it Elvis Cadillac pink ...LOL
My father repainted it dark brown. I will be re-finishing the stock and fore end it in the next couple of weeks.

No velocity data, I need to buy a chronograph. It's on the short list.

May I suggest, strip all the paint off with a removed that will not penetrate the wood. Then hand rub several coats of boiled linseed oil. You will love the correct period look.

Welcome to THR! :)

Nice 1st post. Those WSL rifles have me intrigued. Cool!

Thanks for the advise. There's a few coats of paint on her, and I hope it's not holding the fore end together. LOL

Last year a friend and I were at our local range. We were shooting vintage guns. His was a 1907 Winchester. My suggestion is to shoot one of these rifles were you can find your brass. Ejection was very brisk with his handloads..His rifle had the longer magazine and was in overall good condition. My contribution was a 1939 vintage Remington 141. I suspect both rifles were used by a low enforcement agency.

Thats real cool. I love those old Winchester and Remington semi autos. I'd get a HUGE mosquito net to cover you and the bench so no shells will escape. Good luck and have fun.!!

Edit: might want to sit in a kiddie pool also to catch the empties.
