My friend gave me a computer

To terminate with extreme prejudice. It's from the mid-80s, and it breathed its last a few months ago. He tried to destroy it with a .22LR and a 20 gauge, but with minimal success (he couldn't penetrate the monitor screen), so he's letting me take a crack at it. Who here has done it before, and how do you suggest I should tactically eliminate this cyber-menace... Please tell me 5.56mm or .30-06 will punch through that sucker, so I won't look like an idiot.

If he couldn't get the job done with the 20 guage it was only because he didn't put the lead on target. A friend and I took a CRT monitor apart with 9mm and .45 ACP, so .223 REM will do.

Any good handgun ammo .38 & above should do. .357 is particularly satisfying. YMMV.

MY old, rhino blaster will do it, so will a ruger 10 22 with 1-5 25 rd mags w/fed hp,as anyone here will tell you Be safe watch the richocets, uugh,was that french? I mean the deflected bullets. THANKS

Couldn't penetrate the monitor screen with a .22lr? really? Did he actually hit it? I have punched many .22 rounds through monitors, video cards, motherboards, etc... Monitor should have been penetrated, assuming direct hits on the screen, maybe he shot it from behind when it wasn't looking?

I once took a monitor out to an abandoned range. Let loose with 12 gauge (very fun), 38, 357, and 44 magnum. From about 45 yards, the 38s had difficulty penetrating the side and didn't go all the way through. But the 357s did. The 12 gauge was the most fun.

Unless you shoot on your own property, and don't mind it looking like a trash heap, just be sure to pick up all the bits and pieces after you finish demolishing it.
