I bought my 3" Sp101 in December 2006. I love this gun. I always have. I fell in love with it even before I bought it. The look, the balance...it's just about perfect.
Anyway, having owned it for a year, I decided I was going to go all out and send it to Marc Morganti at Gemini Customs to let him do his thing and get let me get the most from this sweetheart of a gun. I spoke with him several times about what work to do, and the process of sending it away, etc... I had never shipped a gun before so I had no idea.
I sent the gun away on Dec 26th, the day after X-mas. I heard from Marc. he got the gun, all was well. I should have it back in 4-6 weeks, but it might be a little longer because he is gearing up for the SHOT show.
Well, come last tuesday, Jan 22nd, look what shows up at my door!!!! and only 3.5 weeks after sending it in!!!

I couldn't be happier. The fit and finish of everything is just amazing now. really nice. I love the radiused trigger. I can finally shoot without the annoying bite on my finger. The meltdown/dehorning/whatever you want to call it, is just fantastic. The whole gun is soft and smooth. The trigger pull is very very good. I'll tell ya the truth, I actually still prefer the trigger pull of my 19-3. But then again, the old K-frames are legendary for that, and I think that gun may have had trigger work done on it at some time in it's past, because it is just as smooth as any Python I've felt. But this SP101 now has a really nice smooth 10Lb trigger pull. I specifically discussed with Marc, which weight spring to put in there for reliable primer ignition. We decided that by keeping the hammer, and using 10 lbs rather than 9lbs, it would be reliable. It is. Marc knows what he's talking about. I fired 150 rounds of CCI blazer, and CCI uses the hardest primers. I didn't have one failure. I also can't say enough good things about the "Small Wonder" sights. They aren't night sights, and won't work in complete darkness, but honestly, how often are we in complete darkness with absolutely zero ambient light. if there is any ambient light, these things pick it up. You can see from the pic in the photobucket album that the sights create a great sight picture.

I can shoot this gun more accurately than I ever could before. Now when I tell you this, remember that I am no better than an average pistol shooter. for three cylinders full of ammo, I was able to keep every shot (but one flier) on one of those birchwood-casey Shoot-n-See targets at 50 feet, and in fact I cloverleafed some of them. I pretty evenly split those shots between DA and SA trigger pulls. I can also do Old Fuff's 5 shots in five seconds into 5 inches at 5 yards with this gun now. Here is the list of work I got done:

Complete action tuning with 10LB trigger.
Crown barrel
Chamfer cylinder throats
recontour and polish trigger
Dehorn
Eliminate cylinder endshake
Replace springs
Polish plungers/pins
Glass bead blast refinish.
Small Wonder sights installed.

Every one of those was done superbly. This truly is the last gun I'd ever get rid of.
By the way, the grips are Hogue rosewood Monogrips. I bought them used and refinished them by wetsanding with boiled linseed oil.

Overall, i give Gemini Customs a straight A for the work done and for the super turn around time. When I get a GP100, I hope to send it to Gemini as well. Marc is a gentleman and a scholar, and a lovely person to work with. Very professional, and very nice.

That is really a keeper, congratulations on a beautiful custom wheelgun.

Marc Morganti does amazing work, and I hope to get a revolver done by him one day.

ummm....It was $259 + 30 for the small wonder sights. That's not including shipping which cost $50 in each direction, but that's because of the damn anti-gunners making it so tough to ship.

All in all I figure I have about $800 in this gun between initial cost, grips, shipping, and customization. Expensive, but a total keeper. And $800 to have a gun customized for ME, to be exactly what I want, and that will give me pleasure for the rest of my life, and probably the lives of my children and grandchildren as well... it's a pretty good deal if you ask me. As Dollar an Hour said...she's a keeper.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Good weapon and excellent gunsmithing. Marc did a fabulous job for me on my GP100. You now have the ultimate "steel" J-frame. Good shooting....

Marc does awesome work, I had my 9mm SP-101 done a few years ago and it is flawless. He'll get more work from me without question.

I think that looks fantastic, and I think for the total money you put into it you got good value.

I am glad you like it and I am sure it is pleasing to the touch. But one of the things that I like most about the SP101 are the factory grips. Of any handgun I have ever held, they are the most natural point shooting grip, bar none. And for some reason the little grip feels natural to hold onto. I always feared going to a mono grip like yours - while very nice looking - would ruin the feel.

Beauty little gun there!

I like the factory grip, but pre-Gemini it wore the rubber monogrips. Those things felt like they were made for my hand, and really helped it point even more naturally for me. I also found that the natural taper at the end of the grip helped them to conceal better.
I can totally understand why people say the factory grips are very comfortable, but for me, monogrips are tops.

I don't think any amount of work will ever make a Ruger "pretty" ;) but this comes the closest I've ever seen. Hope you enjoy it.

By the way, I forgot to mention the other fantastic thing about working with Gemini. When you call them, Marc himself answers the phone. When you e-mail, Marc responds, and almost always within 12 hours. That's customer service like you almost never see anymore.

Like dawgfvr, I had a GP-100 reworked by Marc. He is the consumate professional that really knows the meaning of customer service. I will always recommend him to anyone that wants a good Ruger or S&W revolver made into something very special. He really takes pride in his work, and I personally think his prices are not out of line, especially when you see the final product. I also see he customizes some very fine 1911's as well. A man of many talents, for sure!

Marc Morganti went out of his way to get me out of a bind a couple of years ago. Since then I've tried never to miss an opportunity to say good things about him and his work--all truthful.

That's a handsome revolver. You have the right to be proud of it. From my own knowledge of Marc's work I've no doubt that it shoots at least as well as it looks. Congratulations. Enjoy it.

I've been lucky to get a great longslide pistol from Marc and he's going to do my next 1911 build. I think I'll have to get him to do an SP101 build as well. Great looking gun and have fun w/ it!

Thank you.

Take a picture of the whole? you mean the whole gun? I thought I had... no? I can take another if you'd like.
By the way, I saw in another post that you were looking for someone to work on your GP100. look no further if you like Marc's work. He also works on GP's. Tell him that Ben from CT who he just did work for sent you.
