Hello all. With the recent events, I to am starting to feel the "panic" The day after Obama was re-elected, I placed my order for my first AR 15. Now that I have that and plenty of mags, my focus is now on handgun mags. How I wish I had bought more sooner.

My first question is, do you think Ammo will slowly rise in price over the next few years? I am in Alaska and my wife and I most likely will be moving back to the lower 48 in the next 3 years or so. So, for me to buy ammo up here is silly because I cannot take it with me. I either sell it or shoot it. Shooting off my supply is a waste of money. My thoughts are to not buy ammo, but buy all the reloading equipment so i can reload myself. I kinda want to reload anyways. Or, should I buy ammo?

Second question is, do you think the "assault weapons ban" will include the Glock handguns? I want a Glock 29, or 20 and I am afraid if I wait to long, I will not be able to purchase it at the price it is at now.

I also want a AR lower, but as we all know they are not to be found!

I bought AR #2 after Aurora, and glad I did. As for ammo, it will surely rise in price as the years go on, but what doesn't? I wouldn't worry about stocking up now, especially if you plan to move in the foreseeable future. You'd be better off long term investing in a press and learning to reload.

Most definitely. The question to ask is, at what rate? And the answer is in the wind.

If it's ammo you can resell, you won't lose money on it unless you overpay at this time (which you probably will, unfortunately). If you're looking at paying post-Dec. 14th prices, it's a real gamble. Prices may stay high for quite some time, or they may settle down. But they'll never be lower than they were on the 13th. If you're looking at >$450/1,000 for brass 5.56, I personally wouldn't suggest buying more than you think you'll use.

Both. If you have the spare time, reloading can definitely save you money. Just a month ago, I was still able to procure 2,000 pieces of once-fired 5.56mm and 2,000 55 gr. FMJ for $317 shipped. I still have quite a bit of WC844 powder that I bought in July at $11/lb including hazmat and shipping (bought 16 lbs) and CCI primers bought this year at $33/1,000 locally. So I'll be shooting 5.56 brass cased ammo at $0.23/round. And that brass is reusable, so amortize it's cost over another 2,000 and the cost goes down to < $0.19/round.

First, there's no guarantee of a ban. A bill will be introduced in the senate, and there's a chance that a watered-down version will make it through the GOP controlled house, but nothing is carved in stone.

IF a ban happens, the Glock pistols themselves are probably safe thanks to the Heller decision, but it would be very likely we'll see neutered magazines again. Probably a non-issue for the G29, but would affect the 15 round G20 mags.
