My HK45C came lubed, not oiled.

Anybody knows what kind of lube HK is using on it's guns?

The last new one I bought came with cosmo, IIRC. P2000 circa 2005.

Manufacturers usually put an oil like preservative on the guns for shipping and storage. This is not lubrication and all new guns should be cleaned of this preservative and lubricated with a proper gun product prior to shooting the first time.

There are lots of good lubricants for firearms out there from good old Hopes gun oil, to CLP, Rem Oil, etc. Some people use Mobil 1 or other motor product. A good homemade gun oil is simply ATF (auto transmission fluid) thinned 50/50 with Kerosene.

All of my CZ pistols come in a plastic bag and the gun is usually literally dripping in a thick, golden colored oil. Like the others said, it's a preservative first and a lubricant second or third. My advice is to wipe as much off and oil/grease with appropriate products.

ETA: Make sure to run a patch or two through the barrel as well.

HKs come from the factory with a heavy packing grease that should be cleaned off before shooting. I shot one of mine without cleaning it first, and it worked fine. They were recommending MPro7 for their pistols, last I heard. I've used MPro7 CLP, Hoppes #9 and Hoppes Elite in mine with similar results.
