Just kidding. Never happened. Just wanted to get people into this thread and prove a point.
In fact, I did own a Kimber Custom II, which had serious problems that Kimber did not address upon 1 trip to the factory. I ended up disclosing the problem and selling the pistol at a $150 loss. I will not deal with Kimber again.
That said, MY bad experience does NOT mean that all 1911s or all Kimbers are bad guns, it just means that my particular piece was defective and they did not make it right. I later learned that the external extractor was most likely the culprit, and that Kimber has stopped including them in their guns.
I think this forum would be much more useful if people stuck to FIRST HAND experiences and did not feel the need to back up their purchase decisions with almost religious fervor. I like Glock, their weapons work for me. But I do not feel the need to reinforce my confidence by attacking others' choices.
To claim that Glocks are junk, or that 1911s are junk, or Sigs are junk, etc is just plain stupid. If you've had specific issues, post them, and the company's response. But it does little service to anyone to continually rehash second and third hand stories about what your second cousin Bubba's trained donkey did with his gun.
