Her gift to me this Christmas:

SVT-40.jpg

It's a 1941 Izhevsk SVT-40.

No, it wasn't a surprise. I knew about it three months ago when she called me from the gunshop where she works trying to figure out what this rifle they'd just taken in on consignment actually was. The owner had no idea, and neither my sister nor the other guy working that day are mil-surp buffs. It didn't take but a few details to know that she had her hands on an SVT, but they're not that rare, so not difficult to believe. The unbelievable part was the guys asking price......$200  I told her to grab that rifle immediately, and I'd get her the money as soon as I could. She told me she'd rather buy it herself, that way she had a birthday/Christmas gift (only 8 days apart, have had lots of combo gifts) that she knew I'd love. I was good with that.

As fellow mil-surp collectors know, the SVT-40 is a much sought-after pinnacle of pre-cold war Eastern weapons. The fact that my sister was able to make it a gift, and that luck smiled and it didn't break the bank, makes it that much sweeter :D

Um, did you know that you should include a pic of your SISTER, too?

Especially if she's single?:p This planet is short a few million of her type. Ladies that understand even a little about how we look at firearms are kinda special, especially if they're willing to buy firearms as gifts.

Let me know if she needs to adopt me. We're all happy for you.;)

Nice piece. I'm sure Jesus would approve;) I had one long time ago it worked well not very accurate. But that was when I was pretty much new to things. Later I learned that mil-spec 7.62 x 54R surplus might be a bit ify on it's accuracy. I would loved to wring it out with handloads because later on I realized that none of my commie stuff was accurate with surplus. So I statred to reload. WOW! what a difference! I sold that rifle because "it's wasn't accurate enough". It's probably that one:uhoh: Oh, and a word of caution. Be sure to check the headspace before you shoot it. Tilting bolt actions like this one as also was the case with the Swede Lungjman in 6.5 mm, the Hakim in 8 mm the chamber can "stretch". Invest in some headspace gauges from www.midwayusa.com

Something tells me that Yoshua-Ben-Yosef would be taking care of business against the evil one with a Springfield made M1 Garand and good ol' M2 Ball.

I'm with the others here. Is she available? I'd like to find a lady that understands.

Also it makes me sick to think that someone can have such a nice rifle and not know what it is. And what makes me even sicker is that I didn't get to it first.

This one was petty early in the AM; we were headed out to shoot rats. So not a very flattering photo for either one of us, but one of the few that exists (we're both allergic to the front of the camera lens)

She is pretty. But I'm not sure about the underwear. I may have pants older than her though. Your a lucky brother. Who ever she choses to make hers is one lucky guy.
