that is some perty wood. I have a Marlin 44 just got a good light load worked up for my son it running about 800 fps. I used my cast 240gr RNFP with 6.5g of win 231. you can shoot that plinking round all day long. I could hardly get my 44 back from my son at the range last time we were there. D Crockett

That's not your standard old walnut stock. That's gorgeous AND the forend matches.

That's either a fancy grade Marlin (note the gold trigger) or aftermarket-- so which is it?

Nice looking rifle. I have a similar Marlin 1894, 44 mag from the late 60's/early 70's that also has an extraordinary piece of wood. It has one of the nicest figured walnut stocks of any long gun I own and was just a standard rifle. Marlin didn't hold back when a nice looking stock blank came down the line back in the day.

Jaypo, that stock is absolutely beautiful, looks very similar to Circassion (SP) Walnut. I re-did a stock on a Winchester Model 94, getting a stock and a forearm from Numerich Gun Parts, and that was just about as good looking, but not quite.
