I recently picked this gun up from my uncle. Him and and my dad both have matching guns, but my uncle is not a gun guy and this one had been sitting in my grandparents closet for years. He let me have it, but I got him some Beck's Dark for his kindness;).

Marlin Original Golden-39M serial #2030xxxx. Seems it was made in 1980.
I will probably end up taking off the scope and go with a receiver sight or factory irons because I don't like scopes on lever guns.

Very, very nice. I've been pawn shop surfing trying to find one for some time now.

Yeah, ditch the scope and go with a receiver mounted peep sight. :)

Beautiful rifle! I'd love to find one like it, there is no better lever .22.

Congrats on a great little rifle! Those mounties are getting harder and harder to come by and pretty expensive when you do come across one. You may need to keep your uncle supplied with Beck's Dark for quite some time on that deal.;)

Nice Golden...one day soon I'll be replacing the scope off my old 56 with some skinners. Good luck with it!

Stick a Williams "FoolProof" or "5D" receiver sight on your Marlin. Williams makes the sights specifically for the Model 39. Very well made sights and produced by some of the finest people in the business.
