Howdy folks:
Thought I'd share with y'all my birthday and Christmas present to myself :neener:
I've named it The Beast.
It's big, it's bad, it's ferocious

That's a Leupold Mark 4, 3.5x10x42, mil-dot reticle, I believe it has M3 turrets but not sure. Look at the photo. Maybe you tell me.
Elevation turret is positive stop and has a calibrated index turret for a Sierra .308, 190gr. MK @2800 fps. out to 1000 yrds. not counting the mil-dot reticle which is another 17" of elevation or an additional 250 yrds. past 1000.
Anyway, this is a fantastic scope. The Beast needs higher than 10 power for my liking. Anybody want to talk about doing some type of scope swap?

I know the ballistics won't be the same for a 338LM. That's why I asked if anyone is interested in doing a scope swap.

Lencac,

Please let us know how that Savage shoots. Actually a range report with photos is in order:D

Thanks for the offer GJgo. I had a SS Scope 16X. Wish I still had it. The optics were well above its pay grade, rock solid and tough as nails. I traded away an Armalite AR10 SASS 16" with the SS Scope for my 30.06 Gruning Precision with this Leupold on it.
I have shot it to do a few break-in rounds and get it on paper. So groups were not the priority. But looking at the relative positioning for the 3 different loads used it should prove to be quite accurate.
I tried to get some shots in with no "witnessses" but the range filled up fast so I said "what the hell" and shot anyway. The crowd was most certainly impressed albeit not pleased
I felt like the guy who yelled "fire!" at the premiere for the new Speilburg movie .................... if you know what I mean. ;) The recoil is stout but not uncomfortable. However, the report for the peeps on each side is, shall we say un-nerving :cuss:

Trade you a cherry MK4 16x with M1 Turrets and the badger rings I had on a Barrett .50 I could not afford to feed.

You wont need to crank on it much at all FWIW. You could probably put off buying another scope for a while if you want to. Those mil dots will get me out beyond 400 yards from a 100 yard zero. 300g smk @2775.

Gotten to shoot her yet?

The M3 knob has 1 MOA clicks and is just labelled for different cartridges. You don't need a new scope, just ignore the yard labels. Or you can buy knob caps from Leupold. But just ignore the yardage numbers and dial the MOA from your dope card.

Here's what I have gordon.
I haven't pulled the level off yet, pending the out come out.

Nice Rifle

That is a beauty of a rifle! Be sure and let us all know how you like it and how it shoots. I have been looking at one one these, but seemed like a heavy gun to carry around, but have never really picked one up either.
