My new 870 Spacegun

What's the deal with the new Remington synthetic stock? I was expecting this:

But got this instead! It is the new factory included stock on the 870HD. When did they change the classic styled stock to this monstrosity?

I don't know but if you want to trade I'm down. I think it looks okay

I'm just going to sell it. I only use the Hogue 12" stocks on my 870s.

I think it looks better than the checked plastic.

But you might be able to contact the company and just say you would rather have had the old kind...they might hook ya' up or refund.

the new fore end gives those w/ smaller stature more purchase to work the action. I'm sure that you'll have no problem changing it as you wish.

Yeah, I brought the Hogue in anticipation of swapping out the factory stock before it was even fired so I can still sell it "as new".

Yeah, that looks kinda funky. I never really liked the old kind anyway. I usually end up swapping mine for Speedfeed forends and buttstocks.

Just out of curiosity, what's the LOP on the new style stock? And is it a thin-walled synthetic as usual, or a little heftier? Is the recoil pad plug-fit or flush fit?

In quiring inds and all that, I don't get out much (literally) and haven't seen that style furniture "in the wild" yet.

Got this on my express too, I don't mind it though. Probably works better for me anyway, I'm about 5'8.

I don't know what's thin, but this is probably it. I can squeeze the butt without much difficulty. Without calipers, they're about 1.5 mm thick.

This one has more of a plug fit. You can squeeze it in without having to screw it on.

The old-style stocks appear 10x better than those "new and improved" ones

I saw one about a month ago. I actually like the look more than the older standard plastic stock. Almost look kinda like Benelli actually.

Thanks much for the additional data and pictures. I was holding out some hope that there might be some good news among the bad.

Looks like it's all bad, though. So sad.

I'll stick with wood, then, and SpeedFeed 2s when I can find them for synthetics.
