I am very happy with the performance of my new baby, Taurus PT92 AFS. Slick lines, nice action, more accurate than I. I think it did very well - the presented picture is 50 rounds CCI Blazer at 25 feet indoors, standing, no prop, Weaver. As usual, there are a few outliers, but the rest seems pretty tight. By the way, this is out-of-the-box NIB. All I did was clean the barrel just in case, and add a little oil on the slide before 200 rounds in one continuous session.
Otherwise, I really like the less weight wrt to my older baby, Ruger KP89, as well as the easier and faster field strip. The longer barrel may have something to do with the higher accuracy I seem to perceive. The frame-mounted safety feels better too. It also seems to get less hot than the Ruger. Maybe the exposed barrel gets better air-cooling ?
However, the internal mechanism is a bit more complicated and the safety lock is a political eyesore. Also, the magazine can be released only from the left side (unlike the Ruger).
I smacked Hogue grips to improve ergonomics. What other suggestions do you guys and gals have? This is my first Beretta-type gun, so your advice is appreciated!
By the way, what does AFS stand for?
