Picked this up today so I thought I'd share. I haven't bought a new knife in a while and when I saw and held this one I knew right away that I wanted it.

Very nice...could I ask how much you paid for it? PM me with cost if you prefer. Thanks.

The shop was selling it for $165.

However because I work at the gun shop where I bought it I only paid $108+tax with employee discount:D

Not sure why you would want the clip on the other end. It is much more natural to pull it out at the ready the way it is already

Because tip down carry gives you the option to rotate the knife (through it's axis) 180° and use a "ring finger" opening to achieve a reverse grip. This can be done with quite a bit of stealth if the knife is carried in a back pocket or your garment partially hides it in a front pocket.

To open in a normal forward grip simply press the knife against your hip as you withdraw it from your pocket letting it rotate between the thumb and index finger then open as per normal.

How useful "tip down" carry might be...would depend to some extent on your knife handling skills and the totality of the circumstance.

I prefer "options"....so I carry tip down...and lose no appreciable speed in drawing/opening the knife.

It could be argued (successfully) that "tip-up" carry offers a better "deeper" initial grip for most folks, that's why you see it so often, but it is not necessary superior, again depending your skills and needs.

Just saying, I prefer options...(where possible) and they could have easily provided that with this knife.

I think I've carried a griptilian tanto so long it's hard to imagine doing it another way. I do see what your looking for though.

Regarding tip up vs tip down, much like flashlights' "bulb up or bulb down," (or head up/head down if you prefer) it depends on the length of the item being carried, and where it's being carried.

"Tip down" on a folding pocket knife with a clip is easier for longer pieces, especially if carried higher up. If you try "tip up" with a 4" folder carried IWB you will see what I mean.

On the other hand with small(er) folding knives especially if the pockets sit well down your leg or hip bone, "tip up" is definitely the way to go - it allows for a fuller grip to pull the knife out of the pocket.

For flashlights I've found I prefer bulb up universally. You don't have to cant or break the wrist as much to get a full grip on the light, and unlike knives, there's no need to consider how to deploy it once you grip it.

Not sure why you would want the clip on the other end.

Because you can't run your hand into your pocket and onto the point or edge if it happens to have come partially open. Before the advent of detents and biased closed features this was a concern of manufactures.
