One of my sons took a Beta Mag with him to Iraq. He is pleased with the Beta Mag. So are those around him. If there have been any reliability problems, he has not mentioned it.

I'd advice him to quit using it. ther's been a warning out on them forever about reliability problems.

Heck, I wouldn't even buy one for the novelty sake if they were about the same price, per round held, as the 30rd mags (that'd be about $40 per beta given the current $12 price of excellent, NIW USGI mags).

Used one at a 3gun shoot, though I doubt the extra capacity really helped me out any.
Surprisingly, there were a number of other 3gun shooters who were using them, and I didn't hear anything negative about the mags from them.

I think the beta mag is a cool idea except:
-At 250 dollars you can buy 3 romanian 75 round AK drums or 2 chinese 100rd drums. That is a ton of money for 100 rd capacity.
-They arent reliable, at least not to the extent that the military would support their use in combat
Has anyone here tried those snail mags that hold 90 rds for the AR15? It looks like a clear polymer copy of the taiwanese LMG mag for the AR18 (not sure it was an ar18, but it looked like one). Dont see why it would be unreliable.

I saw both the Beta-C and MWG snail-mags at the FunShow...for a LOT less than they were a while ago.

When the AWB ended, people were posting lists of stuff they wanted to buy. I really didn't have anything in mind. Most of the stuff that I wanted, I already had. So, to celebrate the end of the ban, I bought a Beta Mag for the AR15s. It works flawlessly.
Many of our local machinegun competitors use them. Never saw anyone have a problem with them at our matches.
I see no reason not to buy them. In fact, I am getting ready to order one for my 9mm AR SBR.
So I could buy 10 (or whatever) 30 round AR mags for the same money ? When I got done buying them, I still wouldn't have a 100 round drum. Besides, at last count I have over 60 USGI 30 round mags, why would I want more. I wanted a drum and bought one. These things are a load of fun on an M16.
I could also have a couple Chinese drums for the same money ? Why can't I have both ? Cause if there is a law against buying both, I am in trouble. I have a couple Chinese drums and a Beta mag.

I was thinking about getting an AUG Beta mag when I get an AUG next year, but they are substantially more expensive than the AR versions (I don't think I've ever seen them lower than $300) and I don't know if I can justify spending that much on a magazine.

There's a replacement body for the AUG available which converts it to accept M16 mags. It's fairly expensive and I don't know one way or the other about its reliability.

Exactly! It was just a "I gotta get me one of them" things!
Besides, If there is another Ban I'll have atleast one, hopefully 4 or 5!

Hmm, I have a couple from HK (got them with the G36K), those are supposed to be improved versions and not a single hiccup yet.

Nice mag - on your great looking rig - I hope to never run into the wrong end of it. No problems with my beta - you gotta love it when a guy who doesn't even own one gives a "heads up warning".
