my new buckmark

So I have been tossing around the idea of a 22 pistol for years now. I have been shooting a 1970s ruger super single six for a few years and it led me to want an autoloading 22. So I went to the local gunshop and found a mk III target that I want for a fair price. Then I went to academy. It was there I found a 5.5" buckmark urx protarget camper.
For $269! :what: Needless to say I bought it with plastic and can't wait to do some shooting with it. So far I only put 30 rounds through it and it fed them all without a hitch. Ammo was remmy golden bullet. :scrutiny: I will have to get the mkIII later.
 
Congratulations on your new pistol. A Buckmark Camper was my first pistol purchase, about 5 years ago. It has been an excellent shooter all that time. I clean it occasionally and have flipped the sear spring to ease the trigger pull slightly. I also added a chear red dot.

The gun is not sensitive to ammo and will shoot anything. However Remington would not be my choice of ammo, not because the gun doesn't handle it well but because in my experience, Remington has too many failures to fire, no matter the gun.

The Buckmark is accurate and reliable. It shoots and shoots and shoots, period. My one complaint is tools are required for disassembly. Still worth it.

My Ruger MkII and S&W 41 are pretty good too.

You got it for a good price. Shoot safely and a lot.
 
I have a 5.5" URX Buckmark and love it. Shoots better than the Ruger I used to have.
 
Great choice. I shoot the Rems a lot and no issues. Win T22 Targets are a bit light but the 333 pack work well. I put the Williams fiber sights on mine and love them. Great pistol!

It seems to shoot pretty good I am used to the revolver so practice makes perfect. I can't believe the price of it! What a steal! I will post a pic or two after I group it a few times. That's a nice gun BCCL. I got the all black one mainly because that's the one my fiance likes. That way maybe she will shoot it.
 
Buckmarks are great. You'll like it.

Buckmarks are Great shooters. I shoot CCI Mini Mags in it. and it has been 100%.
Now go get a cheap Walgreen's laser, and have fun! :rolleyes:

I'll have to check out those links when my internet speeds up on the next clear day. Satellite internet sucks!
 
Congratulations; you've made a great choice. I've been a big .22 target fan for a long time now and have variously shot and owned Rugers and Colts and a Walther or two. But I picked up a Browning Buck Mark a couple of years back -- just could resist the price, the looks, the feel, and the reputation -- and have been delighted with its consistent performance and accuracy. I'll wager that you'll find the same.
 
How easy are they to open up and clean? I'm getting tired of killing a few hours trying to put my Ruger back together each time I try to clean it (even tho the guy on the Youtube can do it in 60 seconds). What are the other pros and cons of the Buckmark vs. the Ruger Mk. III? I've been ogling the Buckmark Light Splash, but I think that model is still very scarce.

To me its the only negative feature of the Buckmark -- you need two different sizes of hex head wrenches to take it down. Also there are small trigger parts and springs held in by the right side grip panel which can stop working if the grip screw works loose. You need to be aware of this if you remove the grips -- don't do it in a location it'd be easy to lose small parts.

On the plus side, the slide is so open that I rarely take mine apart as its easy to flush with break cleaner and relube -- same as I do with my Rugers. I agree the Buckmark is more reliable and less ammo sensitive than the Rugers.

I also agree that most Remington rimfire ammo is not worth buying.

The Browning Buckmarks are great pistols especially for the price. I own two, a Camper and a 7.25" Contour Lite. The Contour Light sports a Weaver Classic pistol scope. It's proven to be a real tack driver and a great small game pistol. My wife has taken over my Camper. She's enjoyed it every bit as much as I have. The Browning Buckmark is a great semi auto .22. The only semi auto pistol I own that tops the Buckmark is my Browning Challenger. Needless to say I like the Brownings.
 
So I shot the buck mark again today, and so did my fiance, and so did my dad. We were able to hit softball sized rocks at 40-50 yards fairly regularly with the stock sights not even being adjusted. What a great shooting gun! I will post some pics of the test groups during the week for all those interested in buying a buck mark.
 
We put about 90 rounds through it today with no malfunctions whatsoever either. Still shooting remmy golden bullet.
