Looking for a 22, range shooting, target - but not for competition. Accurate reliable. Looked at 3 in my price range:

Buckmark Camper, Buckmark URX Standard, Ruger MKIII 22/45

Guess I could also throw in Smith & Wesson 22A, the least expensive I saw.
Perhaps Walther Sp22 - though I don't like the look.

I also would like to avoid any that need very high velocity ammo to cycle properly.

Anyway, For any or all: any strong recommendations?

Thanks!

Stick with the Ruger MK II or III and the Browning Buckmark.

I prefer the Rugers because they are way overbuilt and very reliable and accurate. Should you decide to get more serious they are easily modified with a few drop in parts to become more of a dedicated target pistol.

I agree with this, but I am gonna say Buckmark. Currently have 2 with the URX grip. Melts into my hand where the Ruger doesn't. Nothing wrong with the Ruger, but it just does not fit me.

Both will be reliable guns. Both have their pros and cons. The question is, Which one do you like and which one fits you. Will bet money that one fits your hand better than the other.

The buckmark urx fit me best. Flawless and accurate.

I pick buckmark, I believe mine is the camper model. 5-1/2 inch stainless bull barrel with green fiber optic front site. Its more accurate than me, and really not picky about ammo. I've put well over 5000 rounds of remington golden bullets through it with only a couple spring changes.
I tried a ruger mark III and didn't like it as well. It shoots ok, but taking it apart is a bear. Much more complicated than the buckmark even though they try and tell you it doesnt require tools. I also like the buckmark grip much better.
