While I had my cleaning stuff out to take care of the 8mm Mauser I just picked up I also wanted to address this as well since it's been setting for who knows how long. The bore looked dark and dirty but I figured it was mainly just cobwebs and dust so I gave it a good soaking with some Hoppes #9, then I flushed it with some WD-40. A little bit of crud team out of it but not as much as I would have thought. I ran a bronze brush through it several times then flushed it again and patched it. The 3rd patch came out, clean. I hit it with some REM oil and another patch as a squeegee and called it good. The bore came surprisingly clean and bright and the rifling is crisp and clear so it should be a pretty nice shooter.
