This is my new Boker-Solingen Nealy Paracord Tanto. Model #BK-120549.
I'm going to be using it as my primary EDC blade. I have been carrying it for a few days and am very pleased with it. The ideal fixed blade for EDC IMHO.

I've never carried a fixed blade for EDC before, but I'm curious.

What makes it the ideal EDC fixed blade knife?

I might make the switch, so I'm hoping for some pointers.

The first thing is that I find this blade to be more comfortable to carry than any of my folders. I carry it strong side just behind my hip easily accessible but out of the way. When I carry a folder it tends to be of the larger variety and carried in my front right pocket. I find that prohibits easy access into my pocke

Also being that the knife is held in the sheath purely through retention it is faster to get into action than any folding knife on the market. There is also no lock to fail or pivot point to get dirty and jammed up. And finally a full tang fixed blade knife is stronger than any folder.

I hope that helped.

That's a sexy knife. Personally I'd want a guard on a tanto though. I do think a fixed blade makes sense for EDC if you've be using it a lot. The main reason i opt for a folder is it's less "scary" to onlookers. I'd argue that a blade with belly is more utilitarian than a tanto though, since it helps for slicing. The tanto's big advantage seems to be stabbing (which is why I'd want a guard).
