I will soon be placing an order with GA Precision for the following rifle:

-Caliber: .223 Remington/5.56x45mm NATO (Wylde Chamber - Optimized for Black Hills Mk 262 5.56x45mm)
-Action: Templar Short Action with integral 20 MOA Mount and oversized Bolt Handle. Spiral fluted bolt.
-Barrel: Bartlein 18" Spiral fluted, Varmint Profile with 1/2x28 threading and AAC Flash Hider. 1 in 7 Twist
-Stock: Manners MCM T2 Adjustable, Multicam Dip
-Bottom Metal: Badger Ord. M5 DBM AICS .223 Mag compatible
-Custom Work: All metal receives Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish.

What are your thoughts on this? Any questions? Last minute suggestions?

Note: It has been dubbed "The Dagger" because it is a less powerful* version of GA's standard Gladius .308 which inspired this build.

*Mk 262 5.56x45mm and M855A1 are starting to blur this line.

-Custom Work: Blueprinted action. Trued and timed.

The Defiance action does not need any blueprinting, truing etc. This is why you pay a premium for a custom action, it's already been done.

Sounds good, I went with a 223AI, used Jered's American Precision Arms reamer and throated it for a 75 Amax. It's a laser.

New rifle

I'd have to skip on the 20moa base, I have one and it was 35" high at 100yrds. Had to get the Burris Signature rings that have the ring inserts that are adjustable + & -inserts and take 10moa out to sight it in at 500yrds. It shot over the backstop with the 20moa base. Could have saved $$ if I got the Burris rings first. They come in +- 5, +-10 & +-15 will do all you need. Al

I have never even heard of a defiance action with intregal rail. Built in rail or not, you will not be disappointed with a GAP build. How long did they say the wait would be?

they make awesome rifles. i just had them build one for me too. i shoot with george and the team in just about every match i go to. great guys.

what are you going to do with it? why'd you pick the T2a?

have you seen their new folding stocks? very very cool stuff. next rifle i build will definitely have the T4A folder stock.

@taliv It looked like a solid stock and I wanted an adjustable comb. Have you tried the folders? Are they as stable as the fixed stocks? Its official role would be as an Urban Counter Sniper System but hopefully it will never have to fill that role and will be used as a range gun mostly. I don't know if I'd be allowed to take it out to shoot competitive with it but the would be great. Would your Precision Rifle matches allow a lowly .223 rifle?

i was in their shop in KC a few weeks ago. (They are about 100 yrds down the street from GAP and Badger Ordinance)

they are every bit as stable as the fixed stocks. there is no play. it's just like the AICS folders.

so we allowed 223 in the matches last year because several guys really wanted to shoot and just didn't have quality equipment and we want to be new shooter friendly. However, they're definitely not going to be competitive, and it doesn't have the energy to knock some of the auto-reset targets over (which means even if you hit it, you may not get credit for it) and it's hard to see impacts at distance.

So we're officially strongly discouraging 223, but stopping short of not allowing it
