Let us know how well it holds and edge. 1060 is a simple carbon steel with only .60% carbon, not "spring" steel. 5160 may be what you're thinking about.
I've been hearing this name a lot lately, from an Elvis Presley gift knife to you and now google shows that he gave a knife to Dan Quayle to be placed in the presidential archives...
My first thought was, LOLWUT?
That machete is a cool if basic design. Is it just me though or does anyone else have a really hard time taking most of the designs seriously? They just seem so overdone. Maybe the guy is a really respected knife maker, I don't know, I don't mean to be the disrespectful young guy who doesn't know what he's talking about.
I first heard about Gil from some Nam vets that ran around with my Nam vet cousin. They said he made custom knives for Soldiers going to Nam. He is in a lot of knife mags and makes knives to be used in movies.
Yeah, I did some more researching and ended up seeing some posts from hso saying he was very well respected. I would like to see some less fantastical designs though from him. Saw a few skinners that looked neat...
Good to see you figured that one out before the rolleyes smilie's started congregating. The guy is in the Hall of Fame and he sure knows how to turn a buck with designing things a large number of folks want to plunk their money down to get. He also makes some pretty good stuff on his own as does his brother and, now, his son.
