Quote: "So how does a person find out about distributor exclusives like this?"

Internet buzz, hanging out at dealers who buy from the distributors, ads in Shotgun News, the Ruger website, and some I haven't thought of yet. If internet buzz is any indication, it has been a while since Accusport has commissioned a run of these. In the past, there have been Accusport Bisleys in .357, .41, .44, .45 Colt, and convertible .45 ACP/.45 Colt, that I can recall. All show up in classified ads online.

rabid rob, that is a sweet sixgun! :)

Yes it did, but I doubt I'll use it much.

Now the .45LC cylinder is going to be used a great deal, I hope! :D

Here's mine. It looks like the more recent photos posted feature darker colored grips. Incidentally, there is only one "c" in Acusport.

I was going to get one just like that, but couldn't get up enough cash in my gun collection. had a car accident and had to spend it on something else....

but that is one fantastic looking revolver.
I LOVE IT!

don95sml - It appears that the other guns pic'd have laminated wood grips whilst your's boasts solids.

Got the Ruger out to the range today. Shot about 60 rounds of "Bullseye" Brand .45LC 250g. round nose. After a cylinder full, I got the sights dialed in pretty close, then ran the target back to about to (about) 15 yards or so. Needless to say, I'm quite happy with the results:

Recoil was about what I expected. The gun has enough steel and heft to absorb most of it. The Bisley grip sure provides a natural point...I can see why it's popular now.

The pretty grips will probably get replaced with some Pachs or other rubber at some point. Shooting indoors, the plain black sights were hard to use, but should be just fine outside. Not sure of the performance data on the rounds I shot today, but I can tell you the cylinder sure got HOT. I learned quickly to let the gun cool off for a few seconds before attempting to shuck the empties. I did have to use the ejector(?) plunger to push them out, but they were only sticking a tiny bit. Trigger pull was quite nice, although I did detect a CH* worth of travel/creep.

I sure like this one...it's a keeper!

*CH; noun; a technical term that describes a very thin or small amount. An unimaginably smaller version is called a RCH. For more information, ask an old-timer who works in a machine shop.

I learn something new every day. I've always understood the smallest measurement to be a fch, with the "f" standing for "fine". But then, I was an engineer, not a machinist, and my professors may not have been up to date on the latest terminology.

I have an early one and have tweaked it a bit. It is the about the finest factory New Model Ruger SA I own. It is my "thumper" 45 and dialed in with the 328 gr LFN at 1200 fps. I have gone higher but see no reason too so backed off. If I need more the 475 and 500 Linebaugh's are there. You have purchased a fine, fine sixgun IMO.
