Pretty nice

Is there any difference between the two besides the hand guard length or barrel length?

Pic rail is the same. Barrel is shorter and lighter and fluted under the rails. Some minor mods to the carrier as well. The regulator exterior is now black chrome instead of parkerized. Integral flash suppressor. Other than that and around half a pound lighter up front most seems the same.

I think Ruger made the right call on the SR-556C. The 16.1" barrel with an integral flash suppressor makes for a light and simple muzzle at the minimum length without paperwork.

If you don't mind, what did that set you back down there in Texas?

Is the muzzle device removable on the longer rifle? Just wondering I thought I had heard the ruger brakes were pinned/welded.

Good looking guns.

I have heard a lot of bad things about the ruger carrier tilt. Have you experienced a lot of wear where the buffer tube and the receiver meet? My buddy has one and his is doing just fine, but I would just like to know if those rumors I hear are anti-ruger propeganda or based in truth.

That is a HOT rifle, right out of the box.
Personally I'd take it in black w/ a 20" barrel. Unfortunately that doesn't get you extra sight radius on an AR. :-/

My SR-556 is fine, not enough signs of carrier tilt to be an issue through +-1000 rounds. The SR-556C is brand new so I couldn't say. There were a few of the very early SR-556 that had above normal carrier tilt. Mine is also an early run and no problems. It wasn't like a batch or run of them just sporadic above normal wear caused from carrier tilt. All manufacturers have initial issues. I think a lot of people just can't come to grips with Ruger making an AR15. I think they are a very fine AR.

325 rounds now, all on setting No.2 . No malfunctions, and still no signs of carrier tilt.

Well most manufacturers have their logos on the M4 stock, several have Hogue grips with their logos on them, there are several companies that use Troy BUIS with their logos on them also. A lot of companies that use Troy Battlerail also have their logos on them. So really the only thing that I see on the Rugers that I haven't seen on any other firearms is the logo on 1 of the Troy rail covers.
