From what I have read, the longer the barrel, the more velocity you will get, but you will have an increase in recoil as well.

The range I shoot on has a 500 yard max distance - so I figure that the most of my shooting will be done at or below 500 yards.

I weighed all the options and decided that even with good optics I probably would never do any 1000 yard shooting, so to reduce (a little) the recoil, make the rifle more managable, and be able to put it in a case :rolleyes: I decided I didn't need the extra barrel length.

Serously, even with the upper seperated from the lower, with the brake on the OAL of just the upper was 53" and I didn't have a case long enough. Even when I went to most of the local gun stores with a tape measure, nothing was over 52" I went to Gander Mountain, Sportsman's Warehouse, Dicks and several local shops. I didn't cut it down to have it fit in a case, but that is a nice by-product. ;)

If you meant a 1799 Draped Bust Large Cent - You got a deal! :D

(If you can find one that you can read the date on it will cost you four grand or more. By the time they are in ExtraFine state they are upwards of 100K)

Did you get your BOHICA yet? I sometimes lurk over there and I see that Chris is putting out some more here and there. I know he still doesn't have is rate of production where he wants it, but he will get there.

So - any word on yours?

As of today, now Monday, it's one year, one month, three days since I ordered.

He has promised before Obama gets elected, we will see. All prepaids are supposed to be just about ready to ship. But, I was also told months ago it would go out that week, so take that as you will.

I will defiantly post here when it comes in.

No - I really didn't know. I read that he has shipped more and more ... but I didn't know if you heard anything yet.
 
Is this one of those .50s where you need to completely take the bolt out of the gun to load it?

No - the back of the bolt retracts into the empty buffer-tube in the AR lower. It is a single shot, but the bolt, loading gate, and ejection of the case, is done just like any other bolt action.
 
The kick isn't too bad - I've not shot a Barrett, so I can't compare the two.

I don't shoot it a lot, but when I do it lets me know it's there. :)
 
it looks great, one of the sleekest looking 50's i have seen. it also looks light for a 50, how much does it weigh? maybe looks are decieving.

27 lbs w/o ammo, but as it is in the photos. I haven't tried to add any weight yet - I might but I'm not sure at this point.
