Well done with the pun sir... well done.

I wouldent worry about the news though... I stripped the electronics out (cause i have better uses for them) and dont really have the patience to make each rocket just to have it destroyed.

This used to be a popular 'underground' rocket-launcher design from the Anarchists Cookbook from my younger days. A fragmentation warhead could be made for them from shaped & baked clay.

I recall some kids hereabouts got in a lot of trouble with local LEOs after they started shooting homeless people with them.

Be careful of your backstop.

Looks like an old LAWS rocket launcher that has been turned into a model rocket launcher.

We made one of those in shop class in HS

Now...I am not condoning anyone build one of these rocket launchers....
And not saying that we ever built one and appprox 50 rockets and fired them at various things....

A D size Estes Rocket engine is the same size as a "3/4 aluminum conduit piping.
8" length of pipe.
Braise the ends shut.
drill hole in one end of pipe.

hmmmm, prolly too much info here....

anyway, the fin design was strips of tin, about 4" long and about 1/4" wide and bent near the top, they are then attached to the rocket body with plastic acting as a hinge..... The fins trailed out the back of the rocket until it was fired, then they opened up due to the propellant.

You also need a nose cone...

We built a launcher designed with a kill switch and connected to the car battery. Or we would have, if in fact, we actually built it.....

There are lots of fun things to legally do. Black powder mortars and cannon are legal almost everywhere, for instance. :)

However- rockets are firearms. According to the GCA, firearms "expel a projectile by the action of an explosive".

If anyone wants to PM me for an appropriate forum for this- or want to find a moderator who will host it in their forum- I'll be happy to re-open, and move the thread.

Its alot of things. Its basically a model rocket launch stand, which is totally legal to use in any school yard, made from a 2.5" pvc tube, a 4" pvc tube, with the smaller one seated in the larger one with newspapers. The rail in front is... well... its something. I dont know where it came from. The lettering is cheap stencil, and the rear rail is actually a painted piece of siding. The rear rail is the local of theelectronics box, including my awesome custom-made battery arrangement.

End caps are just pvc collars.
