My new Uniflow dispenser.

I've been using my Lyman scale to measure my charges, but that became too much and tedious for me so I bought a scale, the Uniflow. I bought it with the initial intentions of starting it out on my single stage press (Redding Boss)
However, I know that swapping back and forth between the dies and the dispenser isn't going to work very long before I get annoyed at that too.

My question is this (and forgive me for asking a vast question(s)): The stands that are offered for them are awful expensive by my measure. I was wondering what the thoughts were on my either making a nice one out of maple (my favorite wood) or just buying the Lee Press (the open C type) as it doesn't cost any more than the stands do. I am only thinking about this because for the time being I could just diassemble it and have a far stronger stand that what the other companies offer for the same price. And then if I ever choose to cast bullets I would just buy the stuff to adapt to the press. Or should I just suck it up and eventually buy a turret press. I'm thinking one of the Lee's turret presses.

Or should I just give up and do what I really want? Make a stand for now as it would be pretty cool anyways. And eventually get a turret press.....And heck another single stage too for sizing cast bullets.

Well...What do you guys think I should do first? That's the most important question to start with....

The flat threaded mount that comes with it can be mounted to your workbench [or whatever you use] with a bolt and easily removed if you wish. That's what I do, but I do have to stoop a bit when using it. I think it would be relatively easy to make a higher mount using something like a piece of narrow 1/4 inch steel sheet with the proper size holes for mounting.

That flat threaded mount has worked for me for over 40 yrs. I've often thought about getting a stand or building one, but I really have no need.

The flat threaded mount (did you get one?) works great if you have a shelf above your benchtop and to the rear. Both mine are mounted that way.

The Uniflow is hard to beat.

I don't know if your Redding has an adapter bushing that the dies screw into,
but if so, enlarge the big hole in the Uniflow mounting plate & mount it under the bushing. I have the stand for mine but I did that on my son's RockChucker & it works great.

From re-reading your post, I get the feeling that you think you have to mount the Uniflow on the press, that is not so, unless you have a progress or turret press.

For me mounting mine on the bench away from the press is best, I do the powder charging stage away so I can verify the charges by looking into the cases with a strong light. By away I mean on the other end of my bench. I use reloading trays to hold the cases. I do all my reloading in stages... Tumble, deprime-clean primer pockets, size, trim-debur, prime, charge and then I seat the bullets. I do in this order on however many cases I'm reloading usually 50 or 100 at the time sometime more.

JimKirk, I realize I don't have to mount one one a press. I just wanted to make my set up to make sense. I bought the Uniflow without a stand, because some of the stands seem a bit much for the cost. A lee single stage press costs about the same as a RCBS stand.

I think I will more or less end up doing what you did with your setup. Dispenser being seperate from the press that is, only to minmize screwing around. But I do want it on a stand so that it's on my table/bench and mobile. Plus if I drop something I won't have to bend over. (I'm assuming you have yours is mounted off the edge of the bench top.) I do think that I will have to make the base a bit heavy though to keep it stable during use. Maybe I'll hollow out the base and pour lead into into it.

I think I will do exactly as what LeakyWaders did for now. THANKS FOR THE IDEA, Leaky!!! And eventually, I will make a "beautiful" one out of maple wood along with my lead bottom idea.

To Orangepwrx9, fortunately I opened the boxes up in the store. The first one I picked up didn't have one. I opened another box to see if there was anything mising or extra. The second box had that mount in there. Needless to say I got that one.

I may build a stand out of metal and mount it higher, but my bench is 36" tall and I sit in an office type chair with rollers, so I can move back and to with out getting up. It is about the right height for me setting. My bench looks a lot like a big office desk only it is made of cabinet grade plywood with a 1" top. It has a foot opening just like a desk.

I didn't mean any harm in thinking you were mounting to a press, I have seen folks do that, just don't make sense to me, I like to verifiy my powder so the way I charge works for me.
